About the Author

Doctor Thurston is a Board Certified obstetrician and gynecologist in the private practice of medicine at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas, with Walnut Hill Ob/Gyn Associates. He currently serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Ob/Gyn at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. Doctor Thurston is a cum laude graduate of Rice University and a magna cum laude graduate of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is past President of the Beta Texas Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA). His postgraduate training was at the University of California, San Francisco, where he served his internship and residency, and then served as the Administrative Chief Resident in 1985. Thus far, he has attended the delivery of more than 7,000 babies. Doctor Thurston lives in Dallas with his wife Pat and their four children. He is also the author of Death of Compassion (WRS Publ., Waco, TX, 1996) and Disrobe Completely (Brown Books, Plano, TX 2006), in which he discusses the detrimental effects of managed care on the doc­tor-patient relationship. Doctor Thurston is currently pursuing his Master of Biblical Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and worships at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton. His hobbies include reading, shooting, writing, and he is an avid sailor having recently earned his Merchant Marine Captain's License through the U.S. Coast Guard rated at 100 Ton Master. Doctor Thurston sails a Catalina 350 on Lake Texoma.
