About the Author

Bill Weiss is a Chicago native now surrounded by northern Illinois small town cornfields. His first story, a yarn about a moose pulling his father's car out of a snowy Alaska ditch along the yet-unpaved Alcan highway, came to him in 1957 at age four. his family still tells that story.

As he grew older, he read pretty much everything the Bookmobile brought on its Thursday stops outside the IGA supermarket in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. His neighborhood had no standing library--a bit of irony, since he lived on Dickens Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue was just a few blocks away.

His passion for fiction--especially science fiction--was born out of the black & white 1950s and early '60s: Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Comic books, and Ray Bradbury.

From a technical background, he took the leap into creative writing and journalism courses, penning more than 100 non-fiction articles and devouring short story collections.

In 1999, he launched the Writerspark online creative writing exercises group from which four 1,000-prompt eBooks were born along with a 4,000-prompt full collection. Bill is also a founding member and co-coordinator of a local weekly creative writing critique group.

Bill's debut novel, The Last Terminal Entity: The Pulse Series Book One, is what he terms
a pre-dystopian science fiction time travel noir action thriller. The series will take the ambitious approach of following book one with three historical sci-fi noir prequels that reveal the origins of The Pulse, then round things out in sequels that pick up where book one left off.

A short story collection and flash fiction book are also near completion.

Writing and his two cats, Book and Page, are his passions.
