About the Author

Thomas M. Howard, MD completed his residency in Family Medicine at DeWitt Army Community Hospital and his sports fellowship at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. After retiring from the Army in 2004, he assumed the position as the Program Director of the VCU-Fairfax Family Practice Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Howard has over 10 years of experience in the offi ce practicing sports medicine as well as field side coverage at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Garry WK Ho, MD is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine; he completed his residency and sports medicine fellowship training at Fairfax Family Practice. Since then, he has worked with a number of professional, collegiate, high school, and clublevel athletes in a number of sports—including the Washington Redskins NFL Football team, DC Divas Professional Football, Washington Glory Professional Softball, the Marine Corps Marathon, the Reston Triathlon, as well as several at Northern Virginia high schools and universities. Dr. Ho is also the Medical Director of the Fairfax County Public School system’s Athletic Training Program, as well as a team physician for Washington Bayhawks Major League Lacrosse. Dr.Ho lives in Northern Virginia and enjoys staying active, both physically and professionally. He has special interests in running medicine, martial arts, and combative sports, as well as academic medicine.

Josh Lewis, MD is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine and recently completed a family medicine residency at Fairfax Family Practice. He will be one of two sports medicine fellows at Fairfax Family Practice during the 2007– 2008 academic year.
