About the Author

In most of these books, the author information is written to give the reader all the credentials they have. My degree initials will not mean much to you. Here is what may mean something to you.

I was sexually abused at 16 by a stranger.
My son Chandler was born still at 20 weeks on March 19, 1999
My daughter Sara was born on February 29th, 2000; she lived three and a half days and died in my arms.
I have counseled over 4250 clients over the past 20 years.

I am an interactive trauma counselor, which means in treatment, clients draw, paint, make jewelry, play with play dough, or play cards while they talk. We just do not sit on couches and talk.
Why do you do this work?
I love the results of this work, the nightmares ending. I am a smile junkie. I love the smiles clients have at the end of treatment.

How can you listen to all this hurt?
I no longer question why. I have learned a lot about offenders and don’t have the questions anymore. That frees me up to just be there for the client. I do not dwell on what happened, but focus on how we get better.

Do you wear bracelets on your arm?
On my left arm, as of this writing, are nine friendship bracelets. They are the gifts from my clients. I do not take them off. I wear them till they wear off, then they are hung on my djembe drum.
