About the Author

Malorie Anne Castle was born in the 1950s, a time of John F. Kennedy, the Beach Boys, and Elvis Presley. She began writing and drawing as a little girl while growing up on a farm in Gresham, Oregon. The great outdoors and her farm animals, "Sampson", a big quarter horse, "Tequila", a small Chihuahua, and "Ceasar", her pet goat, filled her childhood days. During her young adult years, she raised two children while working full-time on an ambulance and volunteering for rural fire departments. She wrote and illustrated first aid instruction manuals for adults, elderly caregivers, pediatric caregivers, and baby sitters. Malorie played a key role in the development of an emergency medical training center. She directed and implemented life-saving programs, hoping to help lift her local community into a more affordable and easily assessable medical training platform. Then, as her life took a new fork in the road, she and her husband built a log house from literally the ground up. A few years later after selling the hand-built log home, she and her husband built another home which housed thousands of books. The home is surrounded by a large Douglas Fir tree farm which they manage with harvest and reforestation. Giving back to the earth gives fulfillment in health and heart. The wildlife and nature encountered each day energize Malorie's creative side and give her inspiration for new stories and art. For the small children in her life, she writes stories to fill their minds and encourages them to be creative. Animals in the forest, including a bear, every now and then pass by, thus, a whimsical thought will arise.
