About the Author

My name is Tyler Richardson, and I am a public middle school teacher. As a result of my bullying experience, I am a huge advocate for creating positive learning environments for students so they can excel in school. I focus heavily on the social and emotional side of student development because I know that when students have adverse childhood experiences such as my own, it can prevent them from learning. It is our job to create safe spaces and positive classroom communities. This allows us to reach the whole child and help them develop other important life skills they can use far into their future. I hope students, teachers, and parents everywhere can use my story to address the topic of bullying so we can create the types of schools where all students have the opportunity to be heard.
