Overview

These are fishing stories told by three authors about what happens when they go fishing. These are tales of places, boats, bars, trucks, dogs and people. Their stories occur in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho and Utah and include details as to parking camping costs, trails, and other interesting notes. Each story provides a personal description of the fishing.

Michele Murray is a geologist and writer. She owns and operates Tumbling Trout Fly Shop in the vicinity of South Park, Colorado. She and her huzbun have been dory-fishing for 17 years.

Al Marlowe is also a geologist and writer. He and his wife have been casting flies and lures into many streams and lakes in the West, including New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and the Texas Gulf Coast. He has been fishing for more than 40 years.

Karen Rae Christopherson is ALSO a geologist and writer. She has been fly fishing since 1970. She and her husband are avid fly fishing enthusiasts. Karen has written for several fly fishing publications and co-authored many maps and books with Al Marlowe. She is the webmaster for coloradofishing.net and wyomingfishing.net.

"Between the Rivers" is a compilation of humorous adventures that happen on the road, in the middle of the journey, in the campsite, at the bar, and during the fishing trips. These are tales in common with most fishing people, with travelers, with mountain folk - in short, these are tales of living the dream.

About the Author

Michele Murray, Al Marlowe, and Karen Rae Christopherson are geologists, fly fishers, and writers. This trio began when Karen and her sister were researching for their website, www.coloradofishing.net. They discovered Al Marlowe's fly fishing books and realized he was a neighbor and a fellow geologist.

Al Marlowe has been casting flies and lures into streams and lakes in the West for over 40 years, with his fishing partner/wife, Jean. He’s written articles on fishing and outdoor recreation since 1988 and has been published in major outdoors magazines and websites. He has two books, “A Hiking and Camping Guide to the Flat Tops Wilderness Area, and “Fly Fishing the Colorado River”, and co-authored three eBooks, “Fly Fishing the Flat Tops”, “A Fly Fisher’s Guide to the North Platte River”, and “Fifty Colorado Tailwaters: A Fly Fisher’s Guide”, with Karen Christopherson. He established Hidden Lakes Press in 2000 to publish fly fishing eBooks. Westwinds Press has republished Marlowe’s books: “Fly Fishing the Colorado River, A Hiking and Camping Guide to the Flat Tops Wilderness Area”, and “Fly Fishing the Flat Tops”.

Karen Rae Christopherson began fly fishing in 1970 after taking a fly tying class for Phys Ed credit at Fairview High School in Boulder. As a geophysicist, Karen has traveled throughout the world with her fly rod. She has written for several fly fishing journals and co-authored multiple maps and books with Al Marlowe. Karen is the webmaster for coloradofishing.net and wyomingfishing.net.

Karen and Al have mentored Michele Murray (also a geologist) as a writer since 2000. Michele is a fly fishing guide and owns Tumbling Trout fly shop in Lake George, Colorado. In 1998, she transitioned from white water running to rowing a dory for float-fishing with her husband, who is also an avid fly fisher and geologist. Michele is a contributing editor for Mountain Gazette, (thanks to John Fayhee), and has been published in Discover the Outdoors, EQUUS, Fly Fishing World, Native People's Magazine, New Tribal Dawn, and The Aquarian.

Michele has stories in three anthologies:
“Colorado Mountain Dogs”, published by WestWinds Press, 2014;
“Comeback Wolves: Western Writers Speak for Wolves in the Southern Rockies”, published by Johnson Books, 2005; and
“Hell's Half Mile: River Runners' Tales of Hilarity and Misadventure”, published by Breakaway Books, 2004.

Her latest book, “Eulogies and Dead Horses,” is available through www.tumblingtrout.com.
