I Will Come To You: Mediations on the Work of the Holy Spirit of Christ
Who is the Holy Spirit and what does He do?

Through a series of contemplative devotions and mediations, I Will Come to You reflects upon the active work of the Holy Spirit in each person's journey to Christ. Each chapter, brief but overflowing with love, focuses on an action verb associated with the Holy Spirit drawn from the Bible and the intimacy of Christ's presence in the Spirit's work in us. The Spirt convicts, calls, comforts, teaches, guides, speaks, reminds, and so on--all in a firm and steady pull of love towards Jesus and His open embrace with the Father.

"I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you," Christ promised during the last night with His disciples before His crucifixion (Jn 14:18). His words ring with urgency and concern, but He nonetheless promised His disciples His own presence with the coming of the Holy Spirit. How many of us think of the intimacy of the Lord's presence in our lives in the Holy Spirit? Perhaps framed that way, one might truly cling to the Spirit of Christ given to each of us, ever leading us to the ineffable unity with God promised to us from the beginning.

Too often the Spirit seems like an abstraction, an afterthought, or an accidental consequence more than an actual, active Person of adoration and worship. By focusing on His divine activity, I Will Come to You draws from Scripture and the early church fathers to help make the Holy Spirit's work real in daily living, rather than an idea or wrote theology.
