Overview

A mysterious black sphinx, an ancient secret telling of amazing treasures, and smugglers of ancient artifacts.

All these come together in the most unexpected place that could be imagined, a small city in the American Midwest. What starts out as a simple field trip to a museum turns into an amazing and dangerous international adventure for fifth-grader Robby Reardon and his teacher Mr. Reynolds when they meet a stranger at the Egyptian exhibit. Kidnapped because of information they didn't even know they had on the location of a lost pharoah's tomb, they are brought to Egypt. The pair are 'invited' by the friendly but also threatening Greek antiquities smuggler, Alexander Straticus, to help him complete his lifelong quest of finding the tomb. As the search progresses and Straticus becomes more threatening, all of them begin to realize they have gotten into something much greater and more dangerous they they could have imagined!

About the Author

Michael Khort has loved adventure and reading since he was a young boy, growing up with adventure classics such as "Swiss Family Robinson", "Treasure Island", and numerous other works of fiction; science as well as fantasy. He grew up in Western New York State and while he ventured far and wide in these great United States, living in Florida and Arizona (as well as in Canada for a while), he calls Western New York his home.
In addition to his various living places, he has traveled far and wide in the 'Great Big World', visiting Europe on numerous occasions as well as the Middle East (stopping in at the pyramids in Egypt among other places there) and other countries in the region, as well as in Central America. Egypt and its history and art captivated him and was the inspiration for his book, "The Silent Sphinx".
