Seicho Matsumoto (1909-1992) was a Japanese author credited with creating modern Japanese crime fiction in the Post World War II era. During the 1960s he became the best-selling and highest earning author in Japan, serving as the president of Mystery Writers of Japan for almost a decade. His most famous works in English translation include A Quiet Place, Pro Bono, and Inspector Imanishi Investigates. Many of his books were adapted into films directed by Yoshitaro Nomura.
