After her outstanding work on the Broken Earth Trilogy, narrator Robin Miles returns to perform this latest installment by N.K. Jemisin—a sequel novella to the Awakened Trilogy. Shill, the first new godling born in ages, has a lot of pressure on her shoulders as heir. Miles portrays her with a good-natured hint of mischief in her voice that is perfect for a young character who is striving to establish a streak of independence. Together, these adeptly performed characters create a meaningful continuation that will give fans of the trilogy a satisfying ending. N.H. © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine
