The Blockade Runners is a story by Jules Verne. British merchant captain James Playfair must crack the Union blockade of Charleston harbor to exchange supplies for cotton. Verne's tale was inspired by actuality, as many vessels were actually lost while working as blockade runners in the early 1860s.
