The Vampire Genome (the companion volume to The Werewolf Genome) is the essential compendium of vampire literature. Equivalent to 1,500 printed pages, it traces the genesis and development of the vampire from Babylonian times to the twentieth century. The Vampire Genome collects 117 stories, poems and essays from around the world, including classic masterpieces, hard to find texts, curiosities (like vampires in Hebrew Literature and Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’), historical documents, studies on the folkloric and religious origin of the vampire and related creatures such as ghouls, succubus, werewolves and actual blood-sucking bats. The present volume also features new translations of texts by Lautremont, Baudelaire, Nodier and Quiroga, among others.

Martin Monreal and Gabriela Garcia are the editors of the following anthologies: "Masters of Horror, Suspense and the Supernatural: 100 Stories," "The Vampire Genome: The Best Vampire Stories, Poems and Essays," "Trail of the Necronomicon: An Anthology of the Stories and Novels that Influenced H.P. Lovecraft," "TWILIGHT CREATURES: 40 Stories of Vampires, Werewolves, and other Unspeakable Beings," and "Love Hurts: the Best Vampire, Gothic and Supernatural Romances"
