Overview

Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and more -- so many of our most beloved fairy tales are based upon the stories first documented by the Brothers Grimm as they collected German folklore, providing the seeds for countless retellings including such recent films as "Red Riding Hood," "Hoodwinked," "Shrek," and a slew of Disney films from 1938's "Snow White" to 2010's "Tangled."

Here more than 200 of their tales, translated by Margaret Hunt, are beautifully formatted with 25 classic illustrations, along with a collection of classic fantasy stories that takes us through Wonderland, Neverland, Oz, and other exotic lands thanks to the imaginative authors who ushered in the genre of modern fantasy. All linked with an Active Table of Contents is the equivalent of about 2,000 printed pages including the full text and several illustrations of the following immortal tales, each annotated with recommendations of related books and films:
...
ALICE IN WONDERLAND by Lewis Carroll
...
THROUGH THE LOOKING-GLASS by Lewis Carroll

About the Author

About The Author

When Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, aka the Brothers Grimm, set out to collect stories in the early 1800s, their goal was not to entertain children but to preserve Germanic folklore. Once the brothers saw how the stories entranced young readers, however, they began softening some of the harsher aspects to make them more suitable for children. A cornerstone of Western culture since the early 1800s, Grimm’s Fairy Tales is now one of the world’s most beloved books.
