Douglas Kerr is Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, University of London, and former Professor of English and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Hong Kong. He is the author of Conan Doyle: Writing, Profession, and Practice (Oxford UP, 2013), Eastern Figures: Orient and Empire in British Writing (Hong Kong UP, 2008), George Orwell (Writers and their Work series, 2003), and Wilfred Owen’s Voices: Language and Community (Oxford UP, 1993).
