Camille is the lady of camellias, Margherita Gauthier, a Parisienne of high fashion who finds real love only in Armando Duval. The two escape to a tranquil country setting, but Armando's father secretly persuades Margherita to give his son up. This she does, in a display of sentiment so convincing that Armando takes his leave in a high dudgeon, which reduces Margherita to fatal despair.
"1100316013"
Armando's father relents, but too late. In one of literature's most tender scenes, Armando returns to find Margherita dying.
"Penetrating and passionate." (B-O-T Editorial Review Board)
