About the Author

Miss Elaine Williams, a retired educator who taught public school and college, has spent her entire life in Albany, Georgia. For thirty years, she taught high school and middle school. In the last few years of her teaching career, she worked two jobs teaching at the high school level and at the college level at Albany State University, her Alma mater, for about seventeen years where she ended her teaching career.
Miss Elaine is a 1976 graduate of Dougherty Comprehensive High School. After high school she thought she wanted to be a nurse. She later learned that nursing was not her chosen call. After a failed marriage she entered college again at the insistence of her doctor to become a teacher. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English in 1991 and in 2003, she received her Master's of Education in English Education. Teaching and developing young minds were her calling.
Still today, as a retiree, Miss Elaine directs the After school Tutorial program at her church in Albany Georgia where young minds are being transformed.
Having grown up in Albany, Georgia, the second of five children born to Ms. Annie M. Walker is herself a single parent of three children, Kimyatta, Kiondria, Kenya, (deceased) and one G-Baby, Kamaya. She was educated in the Dougherty County School System entering school the first-year segregation ended in the south.
Miss Elaine, as she is affectionately called by those who know her best has always had a love for poetry. Her teaching career as an English teacher afforded, her an opportunity to discuss and debate poems from poets of all periods in history.
It is only fitting that she put her words in format to be discussed by others.
