El juguete rabioso is the first novel by writer Roberto Arlt. In this work, the city of Buenos Aires is converted for the first time into in the site of another form of storytelling, of seeing, very different from the dominant aesthetics of its time. Arlt opens a new literary space with Dostoyevkian influence and picaresque themes, and in it consecrates the outline of men who are subjugated by poverty and the continued loss of faith, survive in the streets of the great cities.

El juguete rabioso es la primera novela del escritor Roberto Arlt, publicada en el año 1926 por la Editorial Latina. Con esta obra Buenos Aires, la ciudad, se convierte, por primera vez, en el escenario de otra forma de contar, de ver, lejos de las estéticas dominantes de su entorno. Roberto Arlt abre un nuevo espacio literario con influencia dostoievskiana y temática picaresca, y en él consagra el perfil de hombres que, sometidos por la pobreza y la continua pérdida de fe, sobreviven en las calles de las grandes urbes.
