About the Author

Raphael Gumo is an openly Black queer author, International Relations expert, and influencer. Born and raised in Kitale, a rural town in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya, Raphael now resides in Leipzig, Germany, where he champions inclusivity and equality through his literary works and activism. Notably, Raphael is the first Black queer author in Saxony, a milestone that underscores his pioneering spirit and commitment to representation.

He completed his Bachelor`s degree in International Relations at the United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) in Kenya and is currently pursuing a Master`s degree in Development Studies at Universität Bayreuth in Germany. This academic background provides him with a deep understanding of global socio-political dynamics, which he effectively integrates into his activism and writing.

His literary career is deeply rooted in his lived experiences and his commitment to fostering a more inclusive society. Raphael is particularly passionate about writing children`s books that nurture a new generation to embrace diversity and show acceptance towards the LGBTQ+ community, especially the often marginalized Black LGBTQ+ individuals. His stories are more than just tales for young minds; they are powerful tools for instilling values of tolerance and understanding.

An active participant in advocacy groups and initiatives, Raphael frequently writes inspirational pieces, advocating for change on his social media platforms to inspire others and foster greater inclusivity and acceptance.
