This book analyzes 20 paintings at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. I reviewed works by Bierstadt, Botticelli, Canaletto, Cassatt, Cezanne, da Vinci, David, de Goya, Gauguin, Leyster, Monet, Picasso, Renoir, Rousseau, Sanzio (Raphael), Seurat, and van Gogh, respectively. There are also biographical sketches of the artists in question.

Two articles about art history that focus on Michelangelo Buonarotti and Leonardo da Vinci, respectively, are also included.
