Overview
This book is a guide for unrepresented litigants and represented litigants to get through their divorce.
This book is an indepensable first-aid book to assist the litigants in navigating the complexities of the family law system when they are going through their divorce wihtout an attorney. However this book is also helpful if the reader is represented. It will help all litigants understand what to expect at all aspects of the divorce.
Lawyers new to the field of family law may find this book to be a treasure trove of helpful insights to presenting a successful family law case.
Launi Sheldon's 20+ years of family law experience in Arizona has allowed her to accumulate a substantial wealth of information about family court, resolutions outside of court, parenting plans, evaluations, divisions of assets and debt, discovery, disclosure, and litigation.
This book helps parties navigate the entire way through the family law system; from before filing to determining if an appeal should be filed - and everything in between. The book will help the reader in discovery, disclosure, settlement of the case or litigation. The book should be used in conjunction with the laws and rules in the reader's specific jurisdiction.
Launi's experience as a litigation attorney and as a former Judge Pro Tem has given her the opportunity to see the many mistakes made by self-represented litigants and how those preventable mistakes lead to disappointing outcomes in their cases, where the results could have been more favorable. As an example, Launi has seen cases where, although evidence was presented to the court, it was never admitted into evidence. If evidence is not admitted, it will usually not be considered by the court. Therefore, something as simple as NOT asking the court to admit evidence can have a detrimental effect on the case.
Launi Sheldon is only licensed in Arizona and is not currently accepting family law cases. Purchasing and reading this book does not create and attorney client privilege and the information provided within is not meant to be specific legal advice for individual cases. It is always recommend that parties seek advice from an attorney in their jurisdiction.
This book is a guide to help readers learn what they need to look for so they understand their rights and their responsibilities in court.

About the Author
Launi Sheldon has practiced almost exclusively in Family Law for over 20 years. Launi has always been an advocate at heart, which is why she enjoyed helping families get through such difficult times, like divorce. Launi has authored another book, Custody Evaluation Preparation, which has been sold in the United States, Canada, and Germany.
In 2018 she decided to focus her practice on preparing other attorneys’ clients for hearings, depositions, custody evaluation, vocational evaluations and the like. She realized that parents were spending thousands of dollars on custody evaluations trying to obtain sole legal decision-making and the majority of parenting time and most were ill prepared for the evaluations. Their unprepared participation in the evaluations would sometimes do more harm than good to their case. Launi, along with many other lawyers suggest should be prepared for all areas of your case. If you are requesting custody/legal decision-making, be sure to get the book, Custody Evaluation Preparation, 2nd Edition. It will help you to present your best self to the evaluator and the court.
After writing the custody evaluation prep book, Launi realized she could help self-represented litigants prepare for their divorce case just as I helped prepare parties for custody evaluations.
Launi's objective in that book, and this book, was not to provide legal advice, but to help readers learn to present their best selves, and their best case if they choose to represent themselves in their divorce.
This book should be used as a roadmap for readers to help them find relevant laws and rules in their state, which will define their rights and responsibilities for their case.
