In Surviving Guilty, Jasmin Washington first steps back in time to analyze the manipulative techniques that were used against her by her aggressor. After being criminalized for her survival techniques, Washington answers the question "why me?" She explores the consequences of reporting intimate partner violence and the common myths associated with victimization. Through her personal stories, she shares the tips that she wished she would have used against the violence she endured. Washington leaves the audience with one question How far are you willing to go to survive and seek healing in their own life?

About the Author

Jasmin Washington is an author, advocate, and educator born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She migrated to Washington state after losing her home in Hurricane Katrina. Washington was one of the winners of PBS Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest in 2008. Jasmin has devoted her life to advocating for survivors of violence. Working as a Peer Health Educator for sexual health and healthy relationships, sexual violence and prevention programmer, and conducting research on intimate partner violence in the Black community. Jasmin is a proud graduate of Central Washington University; currently obtaining her master’s from Tulane University. Jasmin Washington is a Pincus Violence Prevention Scholar geared towards helping criminalized survivor‘s gain healing. Washington is known for her inspirational keynotes speeches, carefree attitude, and unapologetic raw programs.
